When I first learned how to use
Zotero I thought it was the most useful tool I could ever find since it saves
all of the information on the Internet and it even makes citation for you.
However, there are some pages that cannot be added to the list. The site that I
was trying to save on Zotero was not reliable enough, however, the normal
bookmark was easier to just save the site for me at the time. The in text
citation that we learned in last class was very easy to use and it did not
require changes to be made after the citation was done automatically. I may
choose to use it in the future.
Next new information that I
learned in last class was the Wikipedia could be reliable. I have been always taught
that Wikipedia is a website that anyone can revise therefore it is 100%
unreliable. However, learning how to check if it is reliable or not, I may now
search the references that the certain Wikipedia page uses and research more in
depth. One thing though, it is certainly difficult to find a reliable Wikipedia
source. When I tried searching about the topic that I chose to write in my last
essay, only one came up and that even said that it was a former featured article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Same-sex_marriage). I am pretty
sure I will not use this for my future writings.
Hi Mana!
返信削除I agree with you that zotero is not a perfect tool. We have to be careful not to totally rely on it. Also, although wikipedia's FA article seems useful, it is very difficult to find an article with FA.
All the tools we learned are useful, but not totally reliable:(
Good writing:)
Thanks for replying so fast Kaho:)
削除Yeah, we can never fully trust an app or anything huh.
But it is great that wikipedia has a tool that allows you to check that!

返信削除Hi Mana
返信削除Like you, I was also surprised to know that wiki could be reliable. Though I often use wiki to search about celebrities and books, I didn't really think the information could be trusted. It was interesting to learn about the ranking system since I didn't know about it before taking this class.
Hi Mana!
返信削除I had the same experience of not being able to add my source to the list. Since this tells us that the source is not reliable, I'll need to be aware of it from next time. Like you, I thought that Wikipedia is unreliable so I was surprised too. Also, the article I looked up was a former featured article too. If I have the time to find a FA, I would probably look up for a much more reliable source.
Nice reading your blog!
